FAQs

How is your approach to wedding videography different?

I am very selective in my bookings each year - this is to ensure my couples receive my complete and total artistic attention.

Additionally, I tend to avoid relying on trendy wedding video tricks and styles, such as excessive drone footage or slow motion shots that, while can look pretty and can be used to dramatic effect, can really deprive your film of substance by stretching out single shots and taking up most of your films’ runtime. I adopt a classic documentarian approach to filmmaking and make sure that your film has both style and substance - employing style to enhance your story and not just because something ‘looks cool.’

Thirdly, I am a filmmaker and I approach wedding videography as I would film. It’s all about the story - your story - and every decision I make is in service of that story.

I love New England and I love nature; combining the natural beauty of where I live with a love story is magical and one of my favorite things to do.

How much input do I have in the final product?

My couples trust my artistic sensibilities based off of my portfolio of work, however, I am very happy to discuss content and music that will be included in your final video. I will take this valuable feedback into consideration when crafting your short wedding film. As there are a myriad of artistic and creative decisions that need to be made based off of the footage of a live event, I am unfortunately unable to guarantee that this feedback will be honored in the final work.

Can I choose the music for my wedding film?

I edit to music and am very careful to select the tone / feel that best captures your special day. There are many artistic factors that go into this process and it is always a tasteful marriage of the footage, the couple and their personalities, the venue and the overall theme and flavor of the day. I use only royalty free music to incorporate into the final video. This allows you to be able to share and save your video to any social media platforms without the risk of it being taken down or legal repercussions.

If you have specific thoughts on tone and style of music, I encourage couples to browse musicbed.com and select some song options that you like!

How do you record sound?

Sound is absolutely critical and I take special care to make sure it is done properly. I attach professional, non-intrusive microphones on the bride, groom and the officiant during the ceremony. These microphones are also used during toasts at the reception, or any special readers / speakers that you may have planned on your big day. I will also work with your DJ and record audio directly through their sound equipment as a back-up.

How are you able to film an entire wedding with only one cinematographer? Can I hire a second shooter for my wedding?

I prefer to film by myself as it allows me to move quickly and remain largely in the background - it also helps to keep the cost more affordable for my couples.

I film with 3, sometimes 4 cameras so I can be in multiple places at once. Occasionally, there are rare situations that require a touch more planning, as when a bride and groom are getting ready in different locations at the same time; this usually requires a little time management to allow me to get from one location to another and capture all those important moments.

What is required for booking?

Your wedding date can be held / reserved with a signed contract and 50% retainer of the wedding film total cost. A date cannot be held without those two things.

What if I cancel my wedding or need to change the date? Will I get my money back?

Your 50% booking fee is non-refundable, but it is transferable to a new date up through the following calendar year, based on availability.

How long will you film on my wedding day?

I do not put a limit on how many hours I will work on your wedding day. I arrive early and stay late / as long as is needed to craft a beautiful wedding film.

What is your shooting style?

I take a documentary style approach to shooting weddings. I do not like to direct or orchestrate any part of the day and prefer to capture my images honestly, as they happen. Most clients tell me that they forgot I was there or that they didn’t even see me throughout the day.

When will I receive my wedding film?

I am very selective and only take on 1-2 weddings per month. This is to ensure that my couples receive 100% creative attention. Film editing is poetry and I do not like to rush this process so couples should expect to see their finished video within 4-6 weeks after the event, however, I have been known to surprise my couples with faster than expected turnaround times.

How will my wedding film be delivered?

When your wedding short film is ready, you will receive a Vimeo / YouTube link which you can download from / and share on social media!

If you are unable to download the raw footage via Dropbox, I ask that you make arrangements to send me a portable hard drive so I may transfer it to you that way.
